DON'T LOOK NOW... MY AGE IS SHOWING!!!!

I was online a couple of days ago when a friend was asking me what I was up to at that moment. I told them that I was downloading some music and when I was asked what I was listening to I was told "Oh! Oldies!" OLDIES????? When did Bobby Brown, New Kids On The Block, Blue Oyster Cult, and Heart (just to name a few) become oldies! Had I fallen asleep under a tree somewhere and woke up to a world gone mad!!!!!!
I mean I don't have the grey streaks yet(Firey red actually). Have actually looked for some with hope(Actually looking forward to that moment. Crazy! Huh?) I have a few laugh lines but I wouldn't get rid of them for a million years. They are a symbol of all the good times I have spent laughing and talking with friends. That I wouldn't change in a million years. I have a faint sign of the elevens but I am in denial about those (If an eleven forms on your forehead and u refuse to see it does it truly exist?)
Overall I am pretty secure in getting older. The truth be known it's hard for my mind to see myself in such a light. I feel most days as if I am a little kid playing grown up. I keep waiting for my mother to say "Okay...play time over. Time for a nap." Then my son calls my name or a true adult issue comes up and BOOM!!!! Reality sets in.
I will admit I am not where I want to be in life but I am still a work in progress. Always will be as far as I am concerned. I still do most of the same things I did when I was younger. I laugh as free as I once did. I still enjoy the beauty around me. I still give of myself with a child like innocences at times. Granted I can't stay up all night and then go to work the next day like I did in my teens without being ready to crash by five. I can't ride my bike for miles and miles and then still take on the world without feeling it in every muscle. Still I embrace being this me as much as I embraced the younger more energized me.
So I guess next time I am told my beloved tunes are seen as oldies I will just giggle like I aalways do and just say" Not in my mind" and leave it at that for here on out...D.A.

A Small Case of Writer's Block

Since setting up my little blog last night I have been doing my best to come up with something bright, witty, and interesting. Something that others would read and walk away thinking "Hmmmm!". The problem is that I have for so long been use to only truly expressing myself through poetry and short stories that to now let it all out in a way to where I can be true to myself in such a public light is a bit of a mind block.
See I come from the type of family that when they get mad at each other they don't go on Jerry Springer or fight it out in the streets. We repress, repress, repress! Even though I have an ID that can allow for freedoms that I otherwise wouldn't have I find myself repressing all the same. I am sure in time I will get pass it. I have to if I want to be the kind of writer that I have always dreamed of being.
I have set some personal goals for myself that I won't bore everyone in here with the details. I won't bore myself with them either-LMAO! I have them in my head and usually when I leave them there I seem to do better at accomplishing them. I also waste less paper or computer space-LMAO.
So hopefully I can get over the hump and move forward as I should. I plan on working on making another blog that showcases my newest works in order to get some feedback on what I am creating. This actually lopks like a good sign. I have written twice as much as last night. Maybe I will get past this hurdle quicker than I thought after all-Lmao.
Well gotta to go to bed now. Gotta a six year old resting up and getting ready to drive me nuts tomorrow. Gotta try my best to keep up. So til tomorrow....D.A.
